Teamwork
A highly functional team must be able to communicate. Team-building activities designed to improve communication and listening skills can be held almost anywhere. I hosted a team-building trip with the goal of practicing active listening and communicating while being present, free from distractions that often occur in the workplace. During the event, the aim was to connect with another person’s point of view. This required each team member to approach the conversation with an open mind and without bringing in past biases. The key was to build rapport with team members. When rapport was established, the chances of meeting objectives increased. Individuals on the team were better able to understand and deliver customer value and business goals.
After the team-building experience, I felt motivated to become a better leader, so I enrolled in courses offered by Hyperdrive Agile Leadership. I was able to apply what I learned to our company culture, enabling successful sprints by empowering product teams and focusing on development that drives business outcomes rather than just delivering features.
